Cape Town – The second round of fixtures for the Momentum One-Day Cup get underway on Friday, 29 January with the table-topping Cape Cobras facing the Dolphins at PPC Newlands.

The match starts at 14:00 and fans are encouraged to come early with many incentives on offer including a lucky draw and free Cobras flags to the first 100 fans dressed in blue who enter the ground.

The Cape Cobras will field a formidable lineup and welcome back a number of international stars including Dane Piedt and Stiaan van Zyl, who featured for the Proteas in the recent Test series against England.

Van Zyl will slot into the top-order, which will also included experienced players, Justin Ontong and Andrew Puttick.

The Cobras will boast a high quality bowling unit during the competition. The selectors will consider left-arm spinner George Linde who is returning from injury, while Beuran Hendricks and Dane Piedt are in consideration.

Other players will also return during the course of the competition.

“Wayne Parnell and Dane Vilas will be back soon (after representing South Africa A in Kimberley on Saturday),” said Paul Adams, the Cape Cobras coach.

“We also trust that Vernon Philander will complete his rehabilitation from a foot injury within the next week or two,” he added.

“We have the ingredients and the approach to start the second half of our 50-over campaign successfully, and a packed PPC Newlands will no doubt aid our efforts to do it,” he said.
