Durban - The City of Durban hosted the MTN 8, Nedbank Cup and the Currie Cup final last year and this year, Kingsmead will host the One Day Cup final on Friday.

The Dolphins, led by Proteas spinner Keshav Maharaj, will take on the Warriors in what is dubbed as the clash of the underdogs.

Both teams were second favourites to reach playoffs - they had to face tough semi-finals away against the two teams that ended as the top two on the table - but now find themselves with a rare chance of silverware.

Durban has not had a domestic cricket final since the 2001/2002 season when KwaZulu-Natal beat Western Province in the domestic 50-over competition.

Dolphins coach Grant Morgan is hoping his team can give the local fans a positive show.

"All we want to do is to keep improving and we have done that in the RAM SLAM and now we have done it again in the One Day Cup," said Morgan.

"We want to give the fans in Durban something to be proud of and this is the second final in the city in six months after the Currie Cup final.

"To play in front of a home crowd in a final is something that all the players are looking forward to," Morgan concluded.

However, for now the Durbanites now feast their eyes on the mouthwatering first ODI between South African and India.

Friday's final gets underway at 13:30.
