Cape Town - Proteas batsman Hashim Amla has denied asking a female TV host to dress more appropriately before he granted her an interview.

The apparent incident, reported on a number of websites including ABP Live, Sportskeeda.com and cricketcountry.com, happened during the Proteas recent tour of India.

It is believed that Amla, who is a strict believer and follower of Islam, said the woman was not appropriately dressed, and if she wanted to interview him, she had to be properly dressed.

The woman then quickly changed after which Amla agreed to be interviewed. Amla was reportedly not comfortable that the TV host was wearing a skirt and a low-neck top.

Amla, however, took to Twitter on Saturday morning to refute the claims, posting two tweets in quick succession.
