Cape Town - After coming to the wicket with the loss of Proteas captain Hashim Amla and with two further quick wickets falling, Temba Bavuma took everything in his stride and registered his maiden Test ton, becoming the first black South African to do so.
Bavuma, like a host of other Proteas batsmen, was under pressure to deliver a meaningful score after failure in both innings of the first Test in Durban.
Together with Chris Morris, Bavuma played extremely positively, eventually bringing up his century off 141 balls with sixteen boundaries.
Here is how Twitter reacted to the news:
South Africa will take more confidence from today than many can imagine. Trailblazing from Temba Bavuma has changed the mood. #SAvEng— Firdose Moonda (@FirdoseM) January 5, 2016
