Cape Town - Proteas fast bowler Dale Steyn insists he has a lot to offer the national side and brushed away any thoughts of retirement ahead of a busy summer in South Africa.

Steyn is currently plying his trade for English club Hampshire for the remainder of the County Championship.

On Thursday, Steyn and former team-mate Kyle Abbott fired their side to a 113-run victory in three days against Worcestershire.

Steyn was in good touch, returning with figures of 3-25 and 3-41. Meanwhile, Abbott took 6-39 - including a hat-trick - to seal Hampshire's win.

Steyn admitted in an interview with that he still has a lot to offer when it comes to playing international cricket.

"I still have a lot to offer. I'm only 35 and a lot of people would say, 'Oh 35 is the pretty old'. But I'm 35 going on 23," Steyn told the BCCI's official website.

"I'm young and fit. Yes, I've had a broken shoulder for two years there's nothing that I can do about it... I still want to play a little bit longer but it would be very naive if I said, 'No I'm not going to do something'.

"I've played cricket my whole life, pretty much got a PHD in fast bowling and it would be silly not to contribute somehow."

Steyn is currently tied with Shaun Pollock as South Africa's all-time leading wicket-taker in Test cricket with 421 scalps.
