Cape Town - Proteas coach Russell Domingo has not re-applied for his job and the Test series against England next month will be his last at the helm.

According to a report published on Cricbuzz on Wednesday, a number of local coaches have applied for the post, but Domingo was not one of them.

The report claimed that CSA and their panel tasked with finding a new coach, which includes Gary Kirsten and Eric Simons, have already started the process of interviewing candidates.

CSA then confirmed to Sport24 that the panel had completed interviews with its short-listed candidates and that they would present their recommendations to the CSA board on Friday, July 21

Lions coach Geoff Toyana, Warriors coach Malibongwe Maketa, former Titans coaches Rob Walter and Richard Pybus as well as current SA 'A' coach Shukri Conrad are all reported to have applied.

South Africa's next assignment after the England Test series is a home series against Bangladesh - two Tests, three ODIS and two T20Is - in October.

The new coach will be announced after the England Test series.

There was also some confusion over the Director of Cricket position that CSA was thought to be looking to fill after a recommendation from the board in January.

That post, though, will no longer be created. Instead, Corrie van Zyl will continue in his position as GM: Cricket.
