Cape Town - Proteas all-rounder Chris Morris admits that although next year's World Cup is on his mind, he is eager to return back to the national set-up after being given a lay-off.

Morris suffered a back injury during the Indian Premier League in April, where saw him miss the Proteas' Sri Lankan tour.

The 31-year-old was not named in the Proteas' ODI and T20I squads for their home series against Zimbabwe, which starts at the end of this month.

Morris insisted that despite a World Cup looming ahead, his focus is only on the Titans for the meantime.

"It sounds like a cliché, but I know that I have to do well for my franchise in order to get into that conversation. It starts here," Morris told the Titans official website

"I can't wait. Can't wait! I'm excited for what is to come, and I am looking forward to a big season with the Titans."

Morris will be hoping to impress head coach Ottis Gibson and selectors in the Titans' season campaign.

"Show me a cricketer who doesn't know about the World Cup! Of course it has been on my mind," he said.

"I just have to do my best with the Titans, then the rest will follow."
