Cape Town - South African-born former England star Kevin Pietersen has weighed into the shock Duanne Olivier Kolpak deal debate on social media.
Olivier, 26, stunned the cricketing world on Tuesday when he called a premature halt to his 10-Test fledgling Proteas career by signing a three-year contract with English county Yorkshire.
Social media understandably went into overdrive, with several experts - and others - adding their two cents' worth.
Shortly after the announcement, CSA issued a hard-hitting press release detailing their disappointment at Olivier's decision, which the player himself attempted to explain to supporters in an emotional Instagram post.
Pietersen, now 38, and retired from the international scene having last represented England in 2014, wrote "EVERY sportsman is a business now!" and asked his over 3.7 million Twitter followers to "Name me someone in business that wouldn't move jobs for: 1. More money? 2. Less work? 3. Job security."
The #DuaneOlivier scenario:— Kevin Pietersen?? (@KP24) February 27, 2019
EVERY sportsman is a business now!
Name me someone in business that wouldn’t move jobs for:
1. More money?
2. Less work?
3. Job security?
It’s the world of sport now! You might not like it, but it’s REAL!
