Cape Town - Hashim Amla, in addition to the esteem that accompanies reaching 100 Test caps for your country, will be awarded four-and-a-half ounces of gold when he reaches the milestone against Sri Lanka in Johannesburg this week.

It forms part of Cricket South Africa's (CSA) recently launched milestone program, which seeks to reward players who achieve significant milestones in Proteas colours.

Amla will become the eighth South African to reach 100 Test caps, and he will receive a full-ounce Krugerrand for that achievement.

In addition, he will also be rewarded for having scored over 5 000 runs in Test cricket as well as for his achievements in T20 cricket and ODI cricket.

Amla will be given his allocation of gold in the form of four full Krugerrands and one half-Krugerrand before play on Thursday.

CSA is also in the process of rewarding all of its other Proteas - past and present - who have excelled on the international stage.

In Cape Town ahead of the second Test Allan Donald, Ashwell Prince, Charl Langeveldt, Paul Adams and Shandre Fritz were all honoured with Kruger Rands while in Johannesburg Amla will be joined by Neil McKenzie, Trisha Chetty and Shabnim Ismail.

A full ounce Krugerrand coin is currently worth around R17 000.
