Cape Town - The record crowds that poured in during the New Year's Test at Newlands remain the largest seen in the ongoing Test series between the Proteas and England.

The first two days of the Cape Town Test saw 20 195 and 20 600 spectators attend on Saturday and Sunday, respectively, while the biggest crowd seen in Johannesburg came on Day 3 when 19 338 people watched the Proteas crash to a seven wicket defeat on Saturday.

The first two days at the Wanderers Test - Thursday and Friday - saw just 8 664 and 10 022 attend, respectively.

While it's not known how many tickets were sold for Sunday's fourth and Monday's fifth day in Johannesburg - that never happened - Cricket South Africa (CSA) has confirmed that anybody who purchased a ticket for those days would be fully refunded.

The attendance in Durban on Boxing Day (Day 1) of the first Test is believed to have been around 12 000.

South Africa are 2-0 down in the series heading into Friday's fourth and final Test at SuperSport Park.

Despite it being a dead rubber, here's hoping Proteas fans flock to Centurion in the coming days.
