Cape Town - If South Africa are to win the third and final T20I against India on Saturday, they will have to overcome a poor recent record in the format at Newlands.

In their last six T20Is at the venue, the Proteas have only emerged with one victory.

That win came in 2016, when a spell of 4/21 from Imran Tahir helped restrict England to 134/8 from their allotted overs.

The Proteas nearly butchered their run chase, eventually getting over the line on the final ball of the match as Faf du Plessis top scored with 25 and Chris Morris finished with 17* off just 7 balls.

Other than that, though, it has been a tough few years for South Africa in Cape Town when it comes to T20 cricket.

Last year they lost by five wickets against Sri Lanka while, dating all the way back to 2011, there have been two defeats to Australia while West Indies and Pakistan have also left Newlands with victories.

The good news, though, is that South Africa finally showed some fight when they got over the line in Pretoria on Wednesday to level the series.

Saturday's match gets underway at 18:00.
