Former Cricket South Africa (CSA) CEO Haroon Lorgat offered to "resign" from the unofficial interim board this week after tensions between the Members' Council and a Sports Minister Nathi Mthethwa-appointed board escalated.

However, Lorgat was persuaded not to step aside just as yet by the proposed interim board, its chairperson Judge Zak Yacoob confirmed to Sport24.

One of the major sticking points that led to the breakdown in relations between the proposed interim board and CSA Members' Council was Lorgat's presence, which remained unresolved despite utterances to the contrary.
