Cape Town - Proteas speedster Dale Steyn is set to return to Cape Town this week where he will look to regain his fitness for Test cricket.

As a result, the 34-year-old will not play for the Titans in Friday night's RAM SLAM T20 Challenge clash against the Dolphins in Benoni.

Since returning from injury at the start of the tournament, Steyn has played three matches and come through them all unscathed while returning figures of 2/16 against the Cape Cobras this past weekend.

While that is good news for both the Titans and the Proteas, Steyn will now be heading back to the Western Cape to work on his conditioning.

"By bowling only four overs, he will not get strong enough to bowl 20 overs in a day," Boucher told Netwerk24 at Centurion on Wednesday.

Steyn has not played for the Proteas since November last year when he injured his shoulder in the first Test against Australia.

If all goes according to plan, he will play in the Boxing Day Test against Zimbabwe in Port Elizabeth.

Steyn needs just five more wickets to overtake Shaun Pollock (421) as South Africa's all-time leading wicket-taker in Test cricket.

The news on Morne Morkel, meanwhile, is less positive and he has been ruled out for the remainder of the T20 Challenge with a side strain.
