Johannesburg - Stiaan van Zyl has scored his 13th first-class century for the Cobras in a drawn domestic four-day series game against the Titans in Benoni on Sunday.

The Cobras posted 410 for 7 on day four, in reply to the Titans first innings score of 491 for 7 declared in a heavily weather-affected affair.

Nearly two full days were lost due to excessive rains where no play was possible on day two, and just 23 overs played on Thursday.

Without a result possible, Van Zyl resumed his innings on three not out overnight and began to pile on the runs. The 26-year-old was ruthless all around the wicket, but particularly on anything short.

Van Zyl struck 23 fours and one six in his innings of 249 balls which lasted over five hours. Together with Justin Ontong, the pair bludgeoned a fourth wicket partnership of 176. Ontong went on to score 73, before he was dismissed attempting a pull shot off CJ De Villiers and was caught at fine leg.

Van Zyl - playing the ball off his body - was out to the bowling of David Wiese and caught down the legside by wicketkeeper Mangaliso Mosehle.

In Potchefstroom, also badly affected by rain, Lions captain Alviro Petersen could only add eight to his overnight 130 not out as his side made 365 for four declared, in the second innings against the Warriors.

After the departure of Petersen, Neil McKenzie scored a brisk 50 before he was out caught behind off the bowling of Simon Harmer.

McKenzie was ably supported by Temba Bavuma who ended unbeaten on 44 before the declaration came.

The Warriors, set an unachievable 360 for victory with the day winding down, ended on 122 for 3 as the game ended in a draw.

No play was possible on the last day of the match between the Dolphins and the Knights in Pietermaritzburg.
