Cape Town - Career-best Sunfoil Series figures by Ottniel Baartman helped the Knights roar back into contention before bad light ended play early on the third day of their crucial round nine clash against the Warriors in East London on Saturday.

The seamer claimed four for 46 as the hosts were bowled out for 181 replying to the 188 of the visitors – a lead of seven.

And that was stretched to 94 by early stumps, which the Central Franchise reached at 87 for three after the weather again intervened.

Rain had washed out the entire day two after a gripping first day and even though thing did improve overhead on day three, only 51 overs were sent down.

The home side resumed in a strong position on 77 for two and they pressed on nicely to reach 125 for two thanks to 64 (104 balls, 10 fours, 1 six) from Gihahn Cloete.

But they then lost their remaining eight wickets for just 56 as Baartman, Duanne Olivier (3/57) and Ryan McLaren (2/47) ran riot to dismiss the Warriors in 56 overs.

Grant Mokoena then struck 38 and David Miller was unbeaten on 21 as the Knights looked much better in their second innings before bad light ended the day early.
