Cape Town - Heino Khun fell four short of another century as th Titans dominated a rain-truncated opening day of their Sunfoil Series clash against the Dolphins in Durban on Thursday.

The in-form opener was out for 96 (157 balls, 14 fours, 1 six) as the visitors closed on 204/3 at Sahara Stadium Kingsmead.

Only 50.1 overs were possible after a wet outfield delayed the start on what was a clear and hot day on the east coast.

Water patches in the outfield meant that play only started after 1pm – the hosts winning the toss and opting to bowl first.

But they found wickets difficult to come by, despite Craig Alexander (1/57) dismissing Proteas opener Dean Elgar (3) cheaply.

Kuhn and Grant Mokoena then added 93 for the second wicket, with the latter out for exactly 50 (66 balls, 7 fours, 1 six) when he fell to Mthokozisi Shezi (1/25).

But another substantial partnership of 84 followed for the third wicket as Theunis de Bruyn (41 not out) helped Kuhn dominate.

Kuhn was eventually out just short of what would have been his fourth century of the campaign and after taking his runs aggregate beyond the 750 mark.

He fell with what proved to be the final ball of the day, leg before wicket to Daryn Dupavillon (1/30).
