Cape Town - Proteas fast bowler Dale Steyn is set to finally make his long-awaited comeback in the 'quality' Titans squad this week in the Ram Slam T20 Challenge.

Steyn has returned to the Titans franchise in Pretoria, bringing an end to his time with the Cape Cobras.

The 34-year-old has not played cricket since November last year when he injured his shoulder while on Proteas duty against Australia in Perth.

The Proteas seamer did not feature in the Titans' opening T20 game of the season against Highveld Lions on Sunday

The defending champions got off to a flyer as Albie Morkel and AB de Villiers powered them to a eight-wicket victory at Centurion.

The Titans travel to Kimberley to take on the Knights on Wednesday, November 15 at the Diamond Oval (18:00).

Steyn, who is available for selection for the Titans was seen on Twitter holding up his new kit. He complimented Mark Boucher's squad, saying: "Quality set up. Professional. Refreshing to be back at the Titans. Definitely leading the way in the domestic circuit".

Proteas coach Ottis Gibson will be keeping a close eye on Steyn's performance in the T20 Challenge.

The fast bowler will be looking to impress and make Gibson's squad for the four-day Boxing Day 'Test' against Zimbabwe at St George's Park.

Steyn needs just five more Test wickets to become the all-time leading wicket taker the Proteas in the longer format of the game.

He currently sits on 417 Test wickets while former Proteas all-rounder Shaun Pollock finished his career on 421, the current benchmark at national level.
