Cape Town - It is no surprise that Kevin Pietersen is hogging the headlines in the build-up to Wednesday night's Ram Slam T20 Challenge playoff between the Dolphins and the Cobras in Durban.

Pietersen played the first five matches of the Dolphins campaign - scoring two 100s and two 50s in that time - but then disappeared for the next five as he devoted time to his 'KP24 Foundation'.

But he is back for the effective semi-final and, naturally, he will walk straight into the side.

"It’s tough. It means that somebody who’s played a role in the other games has to sit out," Dolphins coach Lance Klusener said from Kingsmead on Tuesday.

"But let’s not forget Kevin’s role in the first five games … Kevin has really deserved his place in this competition as well. We’re gaining a world class player which is obviously good for us."

The Dolphins beat the Cobras at the same venue on Friday to ensure that they would host this playoff match, but Klusener is expecting a much better contest from the Cape side this time around.

"Extremely good team … I thought maybe just a little but underprepared in the last game," he said.

"I think they’re going to be a lot better prepared for us tomorrow and we’re expecting a much tougher game."

Wednesday night's match starts at 18:00.
