Cape Town - Nicky Boje has been appointed as full-time coach of the Knights cricket franchise.

According to Netwerk24, the former Proteas spinner will be the Knights’ coach for the next two seasons.

Boje started the season as interim Knights coach, taking over from Sarel Cilliers.

But Boje was recently allowed to leave to play in the Masters Champions League (MCL) T20 event in the UAE, as well as take part in the Mumbai Marathon.

Boje played for the Libra Legends alongside compatriot Jacques Kallis in the MCL event which took place from January 28-February 14.

Former Proteas fast bowler Allan Donald took over as interim coach during Boje's absence, before the latter returned to Bloemfontein earlier this week.

Donald, as well as and former Cape Cobras coach Shukri Conrad, also applied for the head coaching role but both pulled out.

Donald, who now lives in Paarl, pulled out due to family commitments.
