Cook to finish 6th on most career Test runs list

London - Alastair Cook announced on Monday that he would retire from international cricket after the end of England's ongoing series with India.

Cook is England's all-time leading run-scorer in Test cricket with 12 254 from 160 Tests.

Cook, who captained England in 59 Test matches, will finish as the sixth highest run scorer in Test match cricket.

Former Proteas all-rounder Jacques Kallis is third on the highest run-scorer in Test cricket standings with 13 289 runs from 166 Test matches.

The 5th and final Test at the Oval, starting from Friday, September 7, will be Cook's last.
