Cape Town - Proteas captain Faf du Plessis was the man of the moment for the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL on Tuesday.

Having struggled to get going in the 2018 edition of the tournament so far, Du Plessis found his best form in the Qualifier against the Sunrisers Hyderabad, smashing 67* off 42 (5x4, 4x6) to see his side home in the final over.

Du Plessis batted through the entire innings, looking on as his side lost 8 wickets and looked unlikely to get over the line.

The Proteas Test, ODI and T20I skipper was the obvious hero, and he took to Twitter after the match to express his delights.

"Can't believe that we won that game last night!" he wrote.

"Special to be there at the end."

CSK have now progressed directly through to the tournament final, where they will play either the Sunrisers, Kolkata Knightriders or Rajasthan Royals.
