Cape Town - The KwaZulu-Natal Cricket Union has sought to clarify the circumstances surrounding the suspension of all-rounder Robbie Frylinck, who has been placed under a cautionary suspension.

Dolphins CEO Pete de Wet has confirmed that Frylinck has been provisionally suspended, and stressed that he would face an internal disciplinary hearing shortly to deal with the matter.

"It is very important to note that this is an internal team matter, and that it still has to be handled by our own disciplinary processes," said De Wet.

"Robbie is a senior member of our squad who has been a loyal servant of the province for over a decade and we trust that he will be afforded the appropriate space and dignity until the disciplinary process is completed.

"It is equally important to quash any speculation that this might be in any way linked to the Cricket South Africa probe into match fixing. This has absolutely nothing to do with that case."

De Wet said that once the internal disciplinary process had been handled and the facts clarified, a full statement would be released.
