Cape Town - Captain Eoin Morgan says England can handle the pressure of being the pre-tournament favourites ahead of the Cricket World Cup.

The hosts are the favourites with the bookmakers, ahead of India and holders Australia.

England were rated as the favourites ahead of the 2017 Champions Trophy on home soil but were knocked out in the semi-finals by eventual winners Pakistan.

Morgan says the squad has matured in the two years since that last-four defeat and he feels they will be able to handle the pressure when the World Cup gets underway at the end of next month.

"We've talked about being favourites a lot since the Champions Trophy," said Morgan, as reported by the Daily Mail.

"We went into that tournament and only got to the semi-finals and we've spoken about that.

"We've tried to replicate being favourites ever since, which we have been in every series (since).

"The guys are relaxed, they're used to the fact they're favourites. It's more a case now of what needs to be done to prepare well."

England will start their World Cup campaign when they play the Proteas in the opening game of the tournament on May 30.
