Cape Town - An inspired bowling performance by England Test hopeful Steven Finn had South Africa 'A' in deep trouble at tea on the first day of their encounter in Pietermaritzburg.
Finn entered the attack in the 13th over and struck immediately, removing the in-form Quinton de Kock (4) after Mark Footit and Stuart Broad had accounted for Reeza Hendricks (13) and Rilee Rossouw (6) in their opening spells.
At 40/3, South Africa 'A' were in early trouble, but a steady 50 partnership between Stephen Cook and Omphile Ramela (20) advance the score to 91 before Finn struck yet again, removing first Ramela and then Khaya Zondo for a golden duck.
South Africa 'A' captain, Dane Vilas did not last long either, bowled by Finn for 4.
Cook continued his watchful innings, putting on a 24 run partnership with Chris Morris before England all-rounder Ben Stokes struck to have Morris (21) caught at third slip.
Cook brought up a patient half-century just before tea off a 153 balls (including 4 boundaries).
South Africa 'A' - 131/7
Cook 52* (164 balls, 4 boundaries)
Finn 4/34 in 12 overs.
