Cape Town - Former Proteas batsman Herschelle Gibbs has been appointed as coach of Afghanistan Premier League (APL) franchise, Balkh Legends.
Gibbs, who is currently the national cricket coach of Kuwait, will manage the Balkh franchise in Afghanistan's inaugural T20 event, which gets underway from October 5 and October 23 at Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
The 44-year-old will guide star T20 players such as Chris Gayle, Colin Munro, Ravi Bopara and Ryan ten Doeschate.
This isn't the only T20 team that Gibbs will be in control of this summer.
Gibbs managed Kuwait to an historic win over Saudi Arabia that could see the country qualify for the 2020 ICC World T20 in Australia.
Gibbs played in 90 Tests, 248 ODIs and 23 T20 internationals for the Proteas between 1996 and 2010.
