Cape Town - When New Zealand's Brendon McCullum smashed 43 off 27 for the Royal Challengers Bangalore against the Kolkata Knight Riders in an IPL clash on Sunday, he reached a significant milestone.
The 36-year-old, who now only plays franchise T20 cricket, became just the second man in the history of the game to notch up 9 000 T20 runs.
By the time he was out on Sunday, McCullum had reached 9 035 runs in the format at an average of 30.94 and a strike rate of 137.81.
Top honour belongs to Chris Gayle, who is miles ahead with a staggering 11 068.
McCullum, meanwhile, is part of a star-studded set-up at the RCB.
On Sunday, their top order read: McCullum, Quinton de Kock, Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers.
It couldn't prevent the Knight Riders from cruising to a four-wicket victory, though.
