It was revealed earlier this week that fast bowler Dane Paterson has decided to end his Proteas career and is in the process of signing a Kolpak deal.

A Cape Cobras spokesperson stated that they had "been requested not to mention the name of the county until Dane has had his final interview with the ECB to ratify it".

However, the Daily Mail reported that Nottinghamshire were the English county set to offer Paterson a contract.

The Cape Cobras fast bowler has been in and out of the national set-up despite making his Test debut earlier this year against England.

Paterson was then excluded from the Proteas' limited over squads for matches against England, Australia and India.

The 31-year-old has played 2 Tests, 4 ODIs and 8 T20s for the Proteas since making his debut in 2017.

Paterson's move to England couldn't come at a better time as Brexit will nullify Kolpak deals beyond December 2020.

This would allow English county sides to only sign two overseas players in all domestic formats.

Players became eligible for a Kolpak deal provided they stopped playing international cricket, thus becoming non-overseas signings.

Meanwhile, the County Championship, which was scheduled to start this weekend, has been postponed until at least 28 May due to the coronavirus pandemic.
