Cape Town - Proteas all-rounder Wayne Parnell has confirmed that he is well after suffering a heart scare during an English county game for Kent.

Parnell underwent a medical examination after he bowled four overs in Kent's Royal London One Day Cup match against Somerset on Tuesday before leaving the field.

The left-arm seamer complained of a tight chest and was exhibiting a rapid pulse.

After undergoing a battery of tests, Parnell confirmed on Twitter that his heart is stablised and everything is all good.

"Seen the specialist in London, the ol' ticker is perfectly normal and working well, thanks for the support and prayers," wrote Parnell.

Parnell, who has a history of heart problems, wanted to return to the field but the county's medical staff urged caution.

A spokesperson for Kent said: "Wayne left the field during Tuesday's match at Taunton as he was feeling unwell.

"In consultation with doctors at Cricket South Africa, Wayne will receive further check-ups today (Thursday)."

Parnell is one of the 15 men named in the Proteas squad that will compete in the ICC Champions Trophy in England.

He is also expected to play a role in both the Test and ODI squads for the Proteas tour of England in May and July.
