Cape Town - Cape Cobras head coach Paul Adams is reportedly aware of the complaints laid against him by several of his players.

Sport24 reported on Wednesday that a number of Cape Cobras players lodged a ‘formal grievance’ against their head coach.

“The grievance relates to a material breakdown in their relationship with the coach,” Andrew Breetzke, the South African Cricketers’ Association's head of player services and advocacy, said.

Adams took over the head coaching position of the Cobras in 2012 and has led the Cape Town-based franchise to five domestic titles.

But his future was seemingly in the balance after the franchise’s indifferent 2015/16 season, which saw them lose in the One Day Cup final at home, along with a semi-final T20 exit and a fourth-place finish in the four-day Sunfoil Series.

However this revelation isn’t new to the former Proteas spinner, as Adams knew about the complaints filed against him.

“I was made aware of complaints after last season was completed,” Adams told IOL.co.za.

“I am a young coach and always willing to learn and take these observations on board. I wish it was communicated to me during the season, so that it could be addressed.

“My focus at the moment (is) to get my players ready for the new season.”

According to IOL, an independent panel will oversee the matter with Paddy Upton serving as mediator and a board meeting will be held on Thursday where Adams' 'fate' will be decided.

The 39-year-old still has two years left on his contract.

Earlier this week, Ashwell Prince was appointed as Adams’ assistant with Alan Dawson also hired as convenor of the selection committee for the Cobras.
