Cape Town - Bangladesh star allrounder Shakib Al Hasan has called on his country's cricket board to adopt a strategic four-year plan as they come to terms with a shambolic recent tour to Sri Lanka.

The Tigers were whitewashed in the three-match ODI series against their Asian rivals and the results came after a disappointing World Cup campaign where Bangladesh finished eighth out of ten teams.

Shakib, who was rested for the matches in Sri Lanka, believes it is important for the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) to come up with a long-term plan ahead of the next World Cup in 2023.

The allrounder was the shining light for his team at the global tournament in the UK as he struck more than 600 runs and took 11 wickets.

Shakib said about the recent results in quotes published on Cricfrenzy: "There is no point of playing hide and seek game. It’s absolutely disappointing.

"Even we could have won a match in this series (against Sri Lanka), there we could have got some confidence. But that was not to be.

"This is the high time to devise a plan for the next four years. I am sure the top authority of BCB will think about it.

"The board has already appointed two coaches. If all the coaches are appointed, they can give a plan to BCB.

"I think if we start our work properly from here, out cricket would be progressed like what we experienced in the last four years."
