McDowell jumps in rankings

London - Graeme McDowell is back up to sixth in the world rankings after posting his third win of the season at the French Open on Sunday.

The Ulsterman finished with a final round of 67 at Le Golf National to win by four shots from South Africa's Richard Sterne, making it three wins and five missed cuts from his last eight events.

On the USPGA Tour, Sweden's Jonas Blixt also shot a final round of 67 to win the Greenbrier Classic and he moves from 103rd to 51st in the standings.

The other top players were idle during the week as they continue their preparations for the year's third major, the British Open which takes place at Muirfield, Scotland next week.
