Cape Town - World No 1 Justin Rose has revealed he plans to take a month off after missing the cut at the Saudi International.

The Englishman's missed cut on Friday was only his second in 36 starts dating back to August 2017, and comes just a week after his impressive victory at Torrey Pines.

Rose blamed jetlag for not being his best after making the long trip from California to Saudi Arabia.

"Going through these time changes does take its toll," Rose said of the 11-hour journey.

"It's a tough journey over here, a day behind in preparation, but still feeling for the most part comfortable and happy with my game.

"I actually played really nicely day one. Today I felt not as good, but I think the mistakes were more because I was behind the eight-ball trying to get into the tournament."

Rose shot 70 and 72 to miss the cut by two strokes at Royal Greens Golf and Country Club in King Abdullah Economic City.

He will not return to action until the Arnold Palmer Invitational in Florida on March 7, the start of his build-up towards the Masters, the first major of the year.

Having gotten himself to No 1 in the world, Rose is crystal clear about what his remaining goals are in 2019.

"My whole schedule is about freshening up now for the Masters and being ready for that," he said.

"My goal is to win more and to win major championships this year."
