Haas won't appeal Abu Dhabi ruling

Cape Town - Despite announcing their intent to appeal, Haas have announced they will not appeal the Abu Dhabi ruling that cleared Force India to race the VJM11.

Haas, unhappy with the FIA's decision to awarded Force India 'Column 1' prize money as they feel Racing Point is a new entity, lodged an appeal against Force India running the VJM11.

The American outfit said that the car belonged to Sahara Force India, the team that went into administration earlier this year.

The stewards, however, ruled that Racing Point Force India was permitted to run the car as they are a "new" team who brought it from a defunct outfit.

Haas announced at the time their intent to appeal but on Wednesday, three days after the 2018 season concluded, revealed they would not.

The team tweeted: "Haas has elected not to appeal the decision of the FIA Stewards (UAE Document 20 - Haas Protest Decision) following the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Nov. 22-25 2018."

Haas, though, may have lost the battle but won the war as with the stewards declaring Racing Point Force India a "new" team, by the letter of the law in the Concorde Agreement they are not entitled to Column 1 prize money for two years.
