Pringle, competing in the T38 category, took part in the 1996, 2000 and 2004 Paralympics.

At each Games he won the gold medal in the 800m.

In the 1996 Games he also won silvers in the 400m and 1 500m.

In the 2000 Games he won a bronze in the 400m and competed as part of the South Africa 4x100m team.

In his final Games in Athens in 2004, he won his second 400m silver and competed in the 200m and the 4x100m.

Following the passing of his mother and having lost all interest in running, Pringle has found a passion for triathlon and has in a few short months found himself in the SA team heading for London.

On his blog, Pringle, short on sponsors in his quest to do the country proud, wrote:

I discovered duathlon and triathlon only a couple of months ago and have been inspired to train towards my new goal of getting to the 2016 Brazil Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro. This new inspiration has given me the motivation to swim in cold water and ride in the rain and the dark. Without a doubt a very steep learning curve to learn the different gear and understand all the challenges of multi-disciplined events. All I needed in the past was a pair of running shoes. I realise that my equipment is somewhat inferior to my fellow participants but I will prove myself in this sport. I have actually already managed good results in a number of smaller events which really kicked off my training towards the Ottawa 2013 Duathlon. I did however recently found out that I missed the deadline for registration for the event but Debbie Alexander and Sharon Oakley from TSA have come to the rescue - I will be representing South Africa at the PruHealth World Triathlon Grand Final in London on the 13th September 2013.
