Cape Town - Olympic 800m champion Caster Semenya has expanded her horizons beyond the field of sport by announcing her involvement in a revolutionary women's health product.

Semenya, the South African women's 800m record holder and former world champion, said she was excited to link up with Famram Solutions as a co-owner, and was proud to endorse the flagship product of the PrincessD brand, a division of Famram Solutions - the PrincessD menstrual cup.

"As an athlete I have been able to reach out to communities around the country, and I believe my involvement with this brand will enable me to extend that reach even further," said Semenya.

"Women’s health, especially menstrual matters is an ongoing issue, particularly in rural communities, and I look forward to playing an important role by assisting in providing a cost-effective solution with the PrincessD menstrual cup."

Most girls in rural areas have nothing to use during menstruation and resort to dirty rags, leaves, newspaper, feathers, socks or nothing at all and this keeps them away from school. The PrincessD menstrual cup which is made from 100% medical grade silicone is the ideal, sustainable solution which is reusable for a minimum of 5 years up to a maximum of 10 years.

"I am ecstatic with Caster Semenya being part of the Famram team as we share the same vision and we aim to change many lives globally with the PrincessD menstrual cup," said Famram Solutions CEO Shamila Ramjawan.

"We are happy with the success of the product, and through this partnership we can define exciting new opportunities for transforming the lives of girls and women, especially for its eco-friendliness, hygienic benefits and cost-effectiveness."
