Madrid - American cyclist Christopher Horner was at the centre of a drug-testing mix-up on Monday, the day after the 42-year-old veteran won the Spanish Vuelta.

Spain's anti-doping agency says it received a request from its American counterpart USADA to perform a routine test on Horner early Monday, only to find the rider was not at the address they had been given.

The RadioShack-Leopard rider had spent the night at a different hotel than the rest of his team.

However, his team released a statement saying Horner had updated his whereabouts with USADA correctly, giving the name of his hotel for the night and other details.

The team included a screenshot of the email reply from USADA which said, "Your update has been received."
