Cape Town - Top Pietermaritzburg cyclist Greg Minnaar finished sixth overall in the 2019 UCI Downhill Series after taking fifth spot in the final round in Snowshoe, West Virginia, USA, on Saturday.
Danny Hart of Britain won the race, while the overall crown went to France's Loic Bruni.
Minnaar, 37, was 2.395 behind Hart in Showshoe and, in the overall standings, he finished on 913 points from the eight races, while Bruni collected 1 462 to walk away the winner.
Second place overall was Amaury Pierron of France (1 422), while Australia's Troy Brosnan finished third (1 209).
Minnaar twice finished in second place during the series (Leogang, Austria and Lenzerheide, Switzerland) and six times inside the top 10.
Minnaar has been a leading rider on the UCI World Cup downhill circuit since 2000 and boasts three world championships to his name as well as three downhill world cup titles.
