Q&A: EFC's Naomi Das

Cape Town - EFC Hexagon girl Naomi Das is more just than a ring card girl.

This young and very talented lady is a model, singer, actress and a voice over artist according to Nick Strickland of MMALatestNews.com.

Based in Johannesburg, Extreme Fighting Championship (EFC) is the premier Mixed Martial Arts organisation in Africa.

Boasting an impressive roster of both local and international fighters, EFC has been putting on world class fight cards for over three years and has helped grow some local fighters into international athletes that have signed for the UFC (Ruan Potts and Garreth McLellan).

Now just like any premier promotion, EFC has its own ring girls or hexagon girls as they are known.

Naomi Das has been with EFC for four years and watched how the sport and company has expanded its reach.

In a recent interview Naomi opened up about her life outside of the Hexagon, her favourite UFC fighters, her views on EFC and more.

1. For those who don't know, give us a brief of who Naomi Das is.

I'm a club hostess/socialite as well as a hexagon girl for EFC International. Im also a model and I hostess at poker events. I do photo-shoots, fashion shows as well as television ads and voice overs. Im also a music video vixen and recently I released my own music single on iTunes called Stiletto.

I also do a bit of acting. Just finished filming a small part I got in a local movie directed by Darrel Roodt, which gets released in February 2016

2. How and when did you find MMA?

A couple years back. I’ve always loved watching UFC when I could which got me interested in being a part of MMA and EFC.

3. What do you do in your spare time when you are not in front of the camera or at an event?

I spend time with the people I love or care about. I do boxing one on one training sessions, I love to cook and I watch a lot of movies and TV series.

4. You've been with EFC for a while now, what's it like watching the promotion and sport grow in Africa and how important is EFC for nurturing the sports hidden talent?

Yes I have, I've been supporting EFC since they started here in SA and its come a long way since then. They have a huge following and a lot of up and coming new fighters who wouldn’t have been spotted without EFC.

5. Do you watch the UFC? If so who's your favourite fighter and why?

Yes I do, All my favourite fighters are now retired unfortunately, for example Tito Ortiz, Georges St Pierre and Randy Couture. As far as the more recent fighter’s go, I'm a fan of Michael Bisping and Ronda Rousey. I think it’s great that women have the same opportunity as men and that they have become a huge part of MMA as a sport.

6. Being the face of the promotion to a certain extent, do you feel nervous doing shows on fight day or is it just another day in the office?

I don’t feel nervous, just full of excitement and energy. I absolutely love being a part of these live events, the atmosphere and energy in the arena.

7. What's been your favourite EFC event/fight during this year?

EFC 44 with De Signi and Eliasov. Bring on the ladies! I love The Signi!

8. This time next year, are you still in the MMA game or do you see yourself elsewhere?

I hope to still be apart of MMA here at EFC Worldwide next year as well as being occupied with my other work.
