Cape Town - Previous to his decimation of former featherweight champion Jose Aldo, Conor McGregor had openly voiced his desire to move up to lightweight and challenge the best of the “Stick in the mud” 155-pound fighters.

However, after he had defeated Aldo in 13 seconds to become the undisputed Featherweight Champion, Dave Sholler put a standstill to McGregor's plans according to Nick Strickland from

At the UFC 194 press conference, Sholler stated that there were two options for McGregor – fight Frankie Edgar next for the featherweight title, or vacate the 145-pound title, move to lightweight and get an immediate title shot against the winner of Dos Anjos vs. Cerrone.

Shortly after, McGregor took to the podium and called the shots; much like he has during his time under the UFC banner stating that,

“I will be a dual-weight champion. There’s no going up and vacating. I am as active as any of them.”

It appears that Conor McGregor got his wish; as Dana White announced on UFC Tonight that he is, “open to letting McGregor fight for and defend both the featherweight and lightweight belts.”

Both Frankie Edgar and Raphael Dos Anjos are coming off of devastating first round finishes versus their previous opponents.

No matter who Conor McGregor fights next, it will prove to be a real humdinger!
