SA's Thompson, Smith win rowing heat

Cape Town - James Thompson and John Smith captured their lightweight men's double sculls heat to progress in the rowing section at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.

After all events were postponed due to high winds yesterday, South Africa had further success with Kirsten McCann & Ursula Grobler also winning their double sculls heat and Lee-Ann Persse and Kate Christowitz finishing second in their pairs heat.

All three teams will now contest the semi-finals of their respective races.

The team of David Hunt, Jonathan Smith, Vincent Breet and Jake Green finished last in their fours heat and missed out on a semi-final spot.
