Cape Town - Dricus du Plessis likes the idea of a superfight with fellow EFC champion Dalcha Lungiambula and is currently leaning towards tackling the Congolese powerhouse at a catchweight of 86-88kg in the hexagon.

Du Plessis, the EFC welterweight and middleweight king, confirmed his interest to mmaengage.com in facing his light heavyweight and heavyweight counterpart.

“Yes, for sure, I mean I’ve never wanted easy fights,” says Du Plessis.

‘Stillknocks’, though, points out the terms of the duel may require some tricky negotiations.

“I mean it’s a bit of an issue because one of us has to put up a title, but I have no problem to do it at light heavyweight.

“But it will most probably be a catchweight of around 86-88kg.”

The South African says he also needs to first consult with Polish-based organisation KSW before “we can set a date”.

Du Plessis recently surrendered the KSW 77kg strap with a knockout loss to German-based Croatian Roberto Soldic in a rematch in London on October 6.

The 24-year-old is still nursing a few aches from their ‘Fight of the Night’ in the English capital, while he reveals he is due to have eye surgery in December.

“I have a few niggles but nothing I can’t handle,” says the CIT MMA standout.

“I will be getting an operation in my eye over December that will keep me out of action for around four weeks.”

Lungiambula (9-1) called out Du Plessis (12-2) on social media last week, saying: “There can only be one alpha male. I have put my heavyweight title defence on hold and begun cutting weight to fight Dricus! I am the TRUE Champion, your ‘Wakanda Warrior’.

“I’m ready for war to set the record straight, are you Dricus? Double Champ vs Double Champ.”

EFC matchmaker Graeme Cartmell says the proposed contest would be “the greatest match-up” in their nine years of running Africa’s top fight promotion.
