Rising stars set to shine in ring

Johannesburg - Joshua Studdard will be hoping to add an eighth win to his record when he goes up against Ronnie Chiloane over six rounds in their bantamweight clash at Presleys in Boksburg on Sunday afternoon.

Studdard comes to the fight having only lost to Ayanda Nkosi by a fifth-round stoppage at Emperors Palace in June. He will be out to enhance his fighting credentials by beating his fellow Gauteng-based opponent Chiloane, who has compiled an unimpressive ring run of three victories, six defeats and one draw from 10 fights.

The main supporting bout on the BRD Sports Management bill will feature Erik Kapia Mukadi and John Bopape slugging it out over six rounds in the light middleweight contest.

Mukadi, who comes from the Democratic Republic of Congo and is based in Johannesburg, has lost once in 20 bouts. His defeat was a technical knockout against Thulani Mbenge at Emperors Palace in December. Bopape, who boxes out of Alexandra township, has had three wins and one defeat from four fights.

The rest of the bill: Carlton Malajika vs Nyiko Ndukula (junior lightweight, four rounds); Dario Familiar vs Andile Cindi (flyweight, four rounds); Mitch Steyn vs Junior Makondo (light middleweight, four rounds); Jason de Freitas vs Owen Eze (middleweight, four rounds); Mark Farah vs Fidelis Okonjo (light middleweight, four rounds); Greg Oliver vs Peto Kapepa (heavyweight, four rounds); and Dido Mukanya vs Augustin Matata (middleweight, four rounds).
