Best of sport: 4 SA stars who starred this weekend

Cape Town - This weekend was action-packed and a relatively good weekend for South Africans in their homeland and abroad.

Some of the notable triumphs included the Proteas defeating Sri Lanka in their opening ICC Champions Trophy encounter while the Junior Boks also recorded a win against Georgia at the World Rugby Under-20 Championship.

Here are our top FOUR feel-good stories:

1. FROM BRICKLAYER TO COMRADES GLORY

Bongmusa Mthembu was once a casual bricklayer in Pietermaritzburg, but now he is the most successful KwaZulu-Natal athlete in recent Comrades Marathon history.

His dream has been realised more than once proves Mthembu indeed has legs of gold...

2. ANDERSON TO SURGE UP ATP TOUR RANKINGS

South Africa's Kevin Anderson had the French Open of his life.

Anderson has looked good in his first three rounds in Paris as he continues to rely on his big serving game, but sadly was forced to retire in Round 4 against 2014 US Open champion, Marin Cilic.

With his surge to the last 32, however, it looks set that the South African will move up nearly 20 places on the ATP Tour's world rankings...

3. MINNAAR MAKING HIS INTENTIONS CLEAR

Greg Minnaar has extended his lead atop the all-time UCI Mountain Bike winners list.

The South African soared to victory in Fort William, Scotland on Sunday, as he overtook his long-time rival, America's Aaron Gwin.

Could we see the mountain biker win another UCI Mountain Bike World Cup title?
