Lions coach Ivan van Rooyen has made three changes to his starting line-up for Wednesday's Currie Cup clash against the Bulls at Loftus Versfeld.

The away game was originally scheduled to take place on Boxing Day but was postponed to Wednesday in order to combat the threat of Covid-19.

Experienced Springbok prop Jannie du Plessis will run out for the Lions as he replaces Wiehahn Herbst in the front row.

While the other change in the forward pack is at flank, where Marnus Schoeman moves up from the replacements bench in place of Jaco Kriel.

In the backline, Burger Odendaal will add bulk to the midfield in place of Wandisile Simelane, who will make an impact off the bench.

Simelane joins Springbok scrumhalf Ross Cronje and former Junior Bok loose forward Francke Horn as the new faces among the replacements.

The Lions, who edged the Sharks into third place on the standings thanks to a favourable points' difference, meanwhile, will throw everything at the Bulls in their final round-robin match in the hope of putting them in line for a home semi-final.

Their fate, however, is out of their hands, as they will have to rely on the Sharks to defeat Western Province on Saturday with a fairly narrow points' margin to possibly see those hopes materialise.

Kick-off on Wednesday is at 16:00.
