Cape Town - The Sharks have snapped up 20-year-old Namibian scrumhalf Damian Stevens to bolster their depth ahead of the Currie Cup season.

Stevens, who represented Namibia at last year’s Rugby World Cup in England, will move from Western Province to Durban and initially be available for both the Under-21 side and as back-up for the Sharks in the Currie Cup while Cobus Reinach is injured.

The diminutive halfback, who rose to prominence at Walvis Bay High before moving to Paul Roos in his later part of this school career, played Varsity Shield for the University of the Western Cape and was in the WP Currie Cup qualifying squad.

He has four caps for Namibia.
