Cape Town - The Springboks are sweating over the availability of centre JJ Engelbrecht for Saturday's Rugby Championship Test against the All Blacks at Ellis Park.

According to the SA Rugbymag website, Engelbrecht sustained a knock to the leg in the Boks' 28-8 win over the Wallabies at the weekend.

The knock has led to a quad muscle contusion, and team doctor Craig Roberts said a call on his availability would only be made later in the week.

Should Engelbrecht not recover in time, Jan Serfontein is likely to start, with captain Jean de Villiers then shifting to outside centre.

In order to win the Rugby Championship, South Africa must beat New Zealand with a four-try bonus point and at the same time prevent the Kiwis from getting any bonus points themselves.

Kick-off is at 17:00 on Saturday.
