Commentary by Sport24's Herman Mostert
23:29 - Despite the poor performance, a sign of a good team is often one which still wins when the performance isn't at its best. Maybe this win, and unlike the 16-all draw in Mendoza last year, can prove to be vital to South Africa's cause for the rest of the Rugby Championship...

23:08 - QUOTE
"Some (Springbok) players didn't pitch up. Some players have got to front up in these difficult situations. It was a mess (up front)," said SuperSport pundit Nick Mallett, reffering specifically to Ruan Pienaar and Juandré Kruger.
22:59 - POSITIVES FROM THE MATCH
A win is a win, Morné Steyn's deadly accurate boot and our scrums weren't too bad as well. CLICK HERE for a full match report.
22:56 - Steyn kicks the PENALTY and the Boks win 22-17. As was the case last year when they drew 16-all, the Boks are lucky to win here tonight. It must be said it was somewhat of an horror-show at times.
22:55 - Another penalty and this time Steyn will line up with 30 seconds left.
22:53 - The Boks are doing well by keeping the ball in the Argentina half. They receive a penalty from right out in front with two minutes left. But they refrain from kicking for posts - again! But maybe not such a bad decision as they can now wind the clock down close to the Argentina goal-line.
22:50 - Five minutes left and Argentina have a scrum just outside their own 22m area. It's important that South Africa now stay in the right end of the field as their lead can be hauled in by a drop or a penalty...

22:46 - PENALTY converted by Steyn and somehow the Boks have taken the lead! Argentina 17-19 SA after 72 minutes.
22:44 - Boks get an attacking chance with a lineout inside the Pumas 22m area. They get a penalty after Argentina collapse the maul. Steyn can now put the Boks in front.
22:40 - PIENAAR HORROR-SHOW
SuperSport commentators Matt Pierce and Bob Skinstad are really climbing into the performance of Bok scrumhalf Ruan Pienaar. The Bok forwards also need to take some blame. They simply haven't pitched physically so far today.

22:34 - Relief for the Boks as Bosch misses. He had enough behind the kick but misses to the right.
22:33 - No conclusive evidence is found on TV and play will resume with an Argentina penalty. Bosch will line up for goal from just inside his own half.
22:31 - Tempers really are starting to flare. The Springboks are clearly a frustrated bunch. Eben Etzebeth also getting a stern talking to now... He claims he was bitten, showing referee Steve Walsh a bite mark on his arm.
22:28 - Boks making error and after here. Willie le Roux joins in the horror-show by kicking it straight into touch...
22:24 - Another chance gone begging at the Pumas win a penalty on their 22m area. Springboks below-par in so many facets tonight...
22:23 - 50th Test for 'Bissie'
Bismarck du Plessis reaches his milestone as he replaces hooker Adriaan Strauss.
22:21 - Attacking chance for the Boks as they kick a penalty deep into the Pumas' 22m area... but they stuff it up with another handling error at the lineout!
22:18 - Big blow for the Pumas as skipper Contepomi is replaced by Santiago Fernandez. He took a big knock and looked in some discomfort...

22:13 - EYE GOUGE?
The TMO is now checking a potential eye gouge from flank Pablo Matera on Francois Louw, but there appears to be no clear TV evidence...

22:05 - WHAT MUST THE BOKS DO?
The Springboks seem to be reacting to what Argentina are doing, not being forceful enough. They must also cut our their handling errors and up their physicality big time in the second period. Otherwise, face losing to Argentina for the first time ever!

21:54 - The Boks get a penalty just before the half-time break. Steyn will line up about 40m out...
21:53 - Wow, that was lacklustre defence from the Springboks and so much energy from the hosts who are clearly relishing playing in front of this boisterous home crowd...
21:52 - Easy CONVERSION added by Contepomi. Argentina 17-10 South Africa after 38 minutes.
21:51 - TRY! Centre Marcelo Bosch barges through JJ Engelbrecht and Jannie du Plessis in midfield to go over for his second Test try.

21:45 - A lot of handling errors are leading to a lot of scrums at present, but the Boks are still looking solid in that department.

Lots of little mistakes from the Boks currently. Difference playing away from home when 50-50s go against you - Brenden Nel
21:38 - De Villiers made a number of errors like that when he captained the Stormers in the Super Rugby competition this year. They lost a few games narrowly they would have won if he had opted to take easy three-pointers.
21:37 - DUMB DECISION from captain Jean de Villiers as he opts to go for touch instead of taking an easy three points. The Boks subsequently lose the ball and the hosts are off the hook.
21:35 - Midway through the first half and the Boks seem to halve settled now. Score still 10-all but South Africa looking more and more dangerous...
21:32 - The Argentina scrum is under some serious pressure now. Unfortunately Pienaar goes off-side and the hosts get some sort of relief...
21:29 - Oh-so-close as Ruan Pienaar nearly sneaks a try when he chases a ball which his opposite number Martin Landajo nearly fumbles in the in-goal area. But Pienaar knocked on though... then Juandré Kruger nearly goes over but there was another knock on... Boks could be leading here!
21:27 - Steyn CONVERTS from the corner. Argentina 10-10 SA after 15 minutes.
21:25 - TRY in the corner from Bjorn Basson. The ball went through the hands brilliantly there. Great to see the Springbok backs showing some distribution skills. And all was set up by another strong scrum!

21:23 - The Pumas hit back immediately via a PENALTY from far out (35m) by Contepomi. 10-3 for Argentina after 11 minutes.
21:21 - Poor form by the Argentine crowd as a chorus of jeers greets Steyn upon his first kick. It must feel like he's playing at Newlands again!
21:20 - PENALTY converted by Steyn. Pumas 7-3 Boks after eight minutes.
21:19 - The Boks get a penalty from the next scrum. Morné Steyn will line up at goal...
21:18 - FIRST POSITIVE FOR BOKS
A solid first scrum by South Africa as they push the Pumas off their own ball. Their reward is an attacking scrum on the Argentine 22m line...
21:16 - Another promising attack by the hosts is stopped in its tracks by the Boks. But a poor start by South Africa. They seem a bit shell-shocked by the pace of Argentina.
21:15 - Felipe Contepomi CONVERTS from the touchline. 7-0 Argentina.
21:14 - Flank Juan Manuel Leguizamon barges over after a lineout close to the Bok line. What a start by the hosts!
21:13 - TRY!
21:12 - A great start from the Pumas after a Ruan Pienaar mistake sees them launch an attack deep into the Boks' half..
21:11 - And play is underway...
21:11 - The Argentine anthem was sung with real gusto. Lets hope they won't be playing in that manner as well...
21:09 - The stadium looks rather empty, compared to last year's sell-out. A certain 73-13 result may have had something to do with it...
21:06 - The teams are out on the park, with the national anthems set to get underway...
21:04 - Last year this time I sat here also covering the Boks' away Test in Mendoza. That night I expected a South African win, but in a horror-show the Boks were lucky to get away with a 16-all draw. However, this time round things should be different. The Pumas are a bit weaker and the Boks have improved markedly. Going for a Springbok win by about 12-15 points...
21:01 - Commentator Matt Pierce says the current temperature at the Estadio Malvinas Argentinas is around 7 or 8 degrees Celsius, but conditions are conducive for running rugby...
20:52 - TWEET: According journalist Craig Ray, the Pumas are dropping balls left right and centre in the warm-up at the moment.

20:50 - QUOTE
"Beat them up physically. They'll be up for it this week," says in-studio SuperSport pundit Nick Mallett about what the Boks must do tonight. He did, however, acknowledge that it will be an almighty upset if the Boks do not emerge victorious again this time round.
20:46 - There are quite a number of European-based players in the Pumas side. However, their former skipper, Agustín Pichot, feels it won't help them in this competition. He wants them to have a team in Super Rugby in order to get used to the pace of the Southern Hemisphere game. I tend to agree with him... CLICK HERE for the story we ran about it earlier this week.
20:40 - THIRTY MINUTES until kick-off...
20:39 - Bok scrumhalf Ruan Pienaar's play will be under scrutiny tonight. He played well in Soweto last week, but when Fourie du Preez came on he showed why he is a class above the rest with his crisp service. Du Preez is not available for the away games in the Rugby Championship and it is in these games where Pienaar must stamp his authority by being just that little but quicker in getting his pass away...
20:23 - It is near-freezing conditions in Mendoza, but good news for the Boks is that conditions seem to be perfect for running rugby, with clear skies and a perfect pitch. A four-try bonus point must be high on the Springbok priority list tonight, especially given the Boks' 73-13 win in Soweto last week.
