Fitzpatrick: Best All Blacks I’ve seen

Cape Town - Former New Zealand captain Sean Fitzpatrick says the current All Blacks are the best he’s seen.

Fitzpatrick, who works as a rugby pundit for Sky Sports in the UK, was commenting after watching the All Blacks humiliate the Springboks 57-15 in Durban at the weekend.

The 42-point victory margin was New Zealand’s biggest ever over their old rivals.

"I've said it since they beat the Welsh and started the Championship so well against the Australians, this team has taken rugby to a new level. They've put a line in the sand after the World Cup last year, lost all that experience, seamlessly gone into this team and created their own identity.

"I will say this quite openly, they are the best All Blacks team I have seen in terms of their preparation. Their skill sets are sensational. To score nine tries against the South Africans, to keep believing in what they were doing and to score seven tries in the second half is outstanding.”

Fitzpatrick, 53, played 92 Tests for New Zealand between 1986 and 1997.

The All Blacks’ win in Durban also saw them equal the Test record of consecutive wins for major Test playing nations (17).

It’s a record they now share with two former All Black teams and the Springbok team of 1997/98.

With their next Test scheduled against the Wallabies at Eden Park in Auckland on October 22, the record will surely be broken.

Eden Park is a ground the All Blacks haven’t lost at in 22 years and I can’t see anything but a New Zealand win.
