Cape Town - It's a long old journey from Japan to South Africa - via Dubai - so no one could blame Springbok flyhalf Handre Pollard from grabbing some shut-eye en route home.

Pollard was photographed cuddling the Webb Ellis Cup, a trophy he played a major role in securing for South Africa at the 2019 Rugby World Cup - the third occasion in seven World Cups that the Springboks have emerged victorious.

Pollard finished the tournament as the leading points scorer - with 69 (22 of which came in the final alone) - and also landed the most penalties (16).

The Blue Bulls took to Instagram on Tuesday to show Pollard spooning the Webb Ellis Cup before it landed in the 'Rainbow Nation'.

Pollard has played his final match for the Pretoria franchise - for now - and will continue his rugby at Montpellier in France in the coming months. The Bulls have moved quickly to fill his boots by signing former Loftus Versfeld legend, Morne Steyn.
