Cape Town - Springbok flyhalf Handre Pollard says that he is well on his way to recovery after suffering a broken cheekbone in the Rugby World Cup final.

Pollard sustained the injury in South Africa's 32-12 win over England in the final in Yokohama.

The 25-year-old finished as the leading points scorer (69) in the tournament and helped the Boks secure their third World Cup title.

Pollard missed the first four days of the Springboks' Champions Trophy Tour but made an appearance in the final leg of the tour on Monday in Cape Town.

"It's great to be with the boys, I've missed them so much. We've really gotten so tight so being away for two days was really tough," Pollard told News24.

"It's (the tour) been unbelievable, I've watched it on TV but this is on another level.

"I think Cape Town just pulled all the stops and showing how much they love the game of rugby. It's amazing," he said.

Pollard, who is set to leave the Bulls for French club Montpellier, revealed that he will be ready to go in a few weeks.

"Cheekbone is good, I've put a plate in and I'll be ready to go in a couple of weeks," he said.

The Springboks concluded their Champions Trophy Tour in Cape Town on Monday.
